Hey guys! ❤
I am heading off to Spain very very soon and I have been feeling a bit nervous and overwhelmed with how my body looks and whether I want to be ‘on display’ whilst I am away..
I know for a fact I am not the only person who feels self conscious, worries about how they look or freaks themselves out as a holiday approaches, so, I thought I would share some things that have helped me stay sane in the run up to my holiday and how I have continued to stay excited, with a few blips, along the way 🙂
~ Listen to other around you ~
I have been really hard on myself recently, I have hated my body and hated any photos of myself. However, others around me have been feeding me positivity about myself and it has kinda helped.
I will not sit here any say ‘I’m cured! One person saying I’m beautiful has cured me from my anxiety and self conscious feelings!’ as we all know that is a complete lie, however, the people who surround you such as family, friends and loved ones are highly unlikely to lie to you. They care about you, how you’re feeling and your health. Why would they then lie to you saying ‘you’re so slim!’ if you’re actually not? Listen to them, even if it’s just once, it helps to tell that little voice to be quiet for 5 minutes!
~ Switch Off ~
The summer months are the absolute worst time for slim girls flaunting their ‘summer ready’ bodies on social media and showing you how incredible they are. This is toxic, especially when you’re already feeling crazy sensitive and anxious about how you look.
Try and avoid these accounts, mainly for your own mental health. You can compare yourself to others as much as you want, however, it will do nothing for your sanity. You are you, you are individual and you are beautiful. Focus on that rather than wishing you looked like Kendall Jenner on the cover of Vogue!
~ Positivity ~
Feed yourself full of positivity, do things you enjoy to do and tell any negative thoughts to ‘go away’. Your body gets you through everyday, your legs take you on adventures, your face is a welcoming haven in a sea of negativity to people around you. Embrace that, hold it tight and keep reminding yourself of that.
~ Praise Progress ~
Over the past 6 months I have been calorie counting, exercising and focusing on my body. I have lost a lot of weight since January, I know I have, I can see it in photos. I need to remind myself that losing weight, toning up and changing my lifestyle is a journey and not a race, the rest will come in time, but I have done so well for getting where I am today. You need to remind yourself of that too.
~ Be Excited ~
Focus on the fact you have booked a holiday and you are excited to go and spend time with your family, friends and loved ones. Why ruin that excitement with negative thoughts about how you look? No one cares how you look, be excited for your well deserved break and enjoy it ❤
I hope this helps some of you to stay positive, remove some negativity and love yourself and your body just the way it is! Take it from me, whether you’re trying to lose weight or not, you’re beautiful just the way you are ❤
