My Pamper Routine!

As you all know, everyone has ‘one of those days’ where you feel a bit rubbish, a bit down, overly tired or just wish all human beings would leave you alone and not exist any more for 24 hours!
So, I am going to share 5 things I do to try and perk myself up and restore some of my ‘Zen’ when I have had a rough day at work, feeling a bit under the weather or if I generally just want to pamper myself a little bit!

A long hot bubble bath…
There is nothing better than coming in from work, school, university or college and running yourself a lovely deep, hot bath. This helps me feel pampered, relaxed and really restores my Zen by warming the cockles of my heart and using nice products to make it a little more luxurious and make you feel like you;re the Queen whilst you soak away all of your woes.
I like to treat myself to products from Lush when I can so I do like using a nice bath bomb or bubble bar as well as bubble bath to make sure I can disappear into the bubbles and be camouflaged from the real world…
The lush products I am obsessed with for a nice long bubbles bath are;
~ Intergalactic Bath Bomb
{ RRP £3.95 }
~ Twilight Bath Bomb { RRP £3.50 }
~ The Comforter Bubble Bar { RRP £4.95 }
And for extra bubbles I stick with good old Radox for the most part, they’re super cheap to pick up from Boots or Superdrug and are usually on offer so if you don’t want to splash out a little on Lush products you can just pick up some gorgeous, bubbly scents with your usual toiletries shop!
Make sure you turn off any harsh lights and light some candles in the bathroom, this really helps to calm, relax and clear your head from the blues of the day that you need to soak away.

I always make sure I leave my mobile phone somewhere else as well, no one wants to be bothered in a bath by friends having a crisis or family members pestering you over something. Put your phone away, light your candles and sink into the bubbles. Maybe even have a glass of wine, treat yourself 😉 ❤

Watching a Guilty Pleasure Film…
Sounds so simple, but for me, it is very effective. I tend to watch something like Harry Potter, any Disney film or a classic that I would usually watch with my family like Love Actually, Dirty Dancing or Pretty Woman. I lose myself in the film, usually whilst I am in the bath, by just watching it on my iPad and completely zone out of what has been bothering me throughout the day.
Pick a film you know you love, you know perks you up and makes you feel happier, makes you laugh or reminds you of something that has been more cheerful than the day/week you’ve had! Make sure that mobile is still nowhere near you, keep social media, texting and calling to the bare minimum, trust me 🙂

Colouring in…
Might sound childish and strange, however, colouring in has become something of a fashionable thing of late and you will really enjoy it! I can’t lie, I was happily colouring in print out’s from websites long before ‘adult colouring books’ came into the forefront of our lives but it really is a nice way to switch off and allow yourself to be still and quiet with the freedom and creativity of creating a masterpiece at your fingertips!
My go to books are;

Enchanted Forest by Johanna Basford
Wild Savannah by Millie Marotta

Comforting Food…
When you’re feeling a bit under the weather you need to make yourself food that will cheer you up and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. For me, this tends to be something quite homely like Chilli Con Carne or a pasta bake. Something simple, quick and effective always makes me feel a bit better about anything that has been going on as well as allowing me to focus my energy into cooking for a while which tends to relax me anyway!
Curling up with a hot bowlful of pasta bake or a nice plate of home-made chilli… there is nothing better honestly! Having a full stomach helps you to perk up a bit so make sure you do eat things that will make you feel better when you’re feeling blue!

Cup of Tea & a book…
I am a bookworm and I love losing myself in someone else’s world for an hour or two if I am feeling like I need some me time or need to relax a bit so this is my favourite thing to do out of all of the above! Sitting down under a fluffy blanket with some nice muted lighting and a warm cup of tea with a Cadbury’s Twirl to dunk is one of life’s simple pleasures that I will never get bored of!
Dunk your Twirl in your tea, cuddle up under your blanket in a nice comfortable corner or on a sofa and lose yourself in the world of a book! Trust me, this helps me every time! 🙂
Here are some of my favourite books to get lost in on a day when my life is a little too much to bare!
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone ~ J.K Rowling
The Catcher and the Rye ~ J.D. Salinger
The BFG ~ Roald Dahl
The Night Circus ~ Erin Morgenstern

So there you have it, five things that perk me up when I have been having a less than perfect day! I don’t do all five of these in one night, I may only do one but it is really important to give yourself some me time, pamper yourself a bit and do things that make you happy every once in a while! You have to look after yourself otherwise you won’t be able to look after anyone else!

I hope this helps some of you to regain your Zen and feel better after a bad day!
I’ll talk to you guys soon! 🙂 ❤
