So, as you guys know I am pretty obsessed with make-up and drugstore make-up, so make-up from Boots or Superdrug for us UK folk, is one of my all time favourite things so I thought why not make a blog post from a YouTube tag and take you through why I love drugstore make-up so much!
This will take you through some of my favourite products, some products I am not overly keen on and ones that I think are generally overpriced for what you end up getting, so, without further ado here is my ‘I ❤ Drugstore Make-up Tag’!
What is your favourite drugstore make-up brand?
Overall, my favourite drugstore brand would have to be Rimmel London, I am obsessed! I have used it for so many years now and their brand is consistently incredible, the products are so good for the price and they always last well and look amazing. I will always go back to Rimmel products as I know I am getting my money’s worth whilst also buying a product that looks amazing!
What are you favourite face, cheek and lip products?
My favourite face product, by far, is the Rimmel 9 in 1 BB Cream. It is a recent love, however, I am obsessed by it! It lasts all day, it looks amazing and gives me a lovely even coverage that matches my skintone perfectly! If you haven’t tried this product and are looking for something lighter to wear into the warmer months then I would recommend this product to you every single time! It is so good and so worth the money, I am obsessed. I have worn it every day for around 2 weeks now and I have yet to find any kind of fault with it! Dreeeeamy.
If you don’t already know then I am pretty obsessed with highlighter, having my face glitter and sparkle like I am a vampire from Twilight is my main aim in life so I have tried a number of highlighters and I have found one from Revolution that I absolutely adore! The shine it gives my face is divine and the price tag attached to it is crazy low! It comes in a trio of bronzer, blush and highlight, I love all of them, might I add, but the highlighter is by far the most stunning this I have ever come across thus far! It is gorgeous, if you haven’t tried this trio as of yet and can get your hands on any Revolution products then go and try some of them, they are crazy cheap and honestly incredible! I can’t get enough!
My favourite lip product by far is the Rimmel lip liner in Tiramissu. Oh my god. This lip liner is the dream. It lasts for so long, looks amazing and is the perfect browny nude that I have been searching for! I love this so much, if you haven’t tried any of Rimmel’s lip liners then I urge you to, they are honestly amazing and I do not know where I would be without this little beauty!
Least favourite product?
My least favourite product, to much contention, would be the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer. I have no idea what it is but it does absolutely nothing for me. It has no coverage, it slips around my face and sinks into fine lines so easily that I look more tired than before I even attempted to conceal! This product just does not work for me and it was relatively expensive so I am not gonna lie, I was disappointed. By all means try it, but the formula is so creamy and greasy that it simply blends out into absolutely nothing at all. I love other Soap and Glory products but this one is just not the one for me.
What is the best make-up bargain?
The best make-up bargains I have found are the Revolution Contour Palette priced at £3.99 and the MUA Cashmere Highlighter priced at £2.99. These products are stunning! Truly. The contour palette comes with a bronzer, highlighter and blush and they all match my skintone beautifully, this is a rarity and I was very surprised when it came true in such a cheap and cheerful product such as this one!
The MUA highlighter is a new buy and quickly became a true love affair, I am obsessed. It gives your cheeks bones a beautiful, natural glow that comes across as ever so slightly pinky so you can use this to give yourself an added flush to your face too! It is so easy to blend, you can build it up so well and it is just a staple in my make-up bag now, I cannot get enough and I will be trying more of both Revolution and MUA make-up products in the future.
What is your favourite underdog product?
My favourite underdog product would have to be the Revolution Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights. Oh. My. God. If you have not tried these highlighters then seriously, where have you been?! It gives your cheekbones such a stunning glow and takes a tiny amount of product to achieve this! It is truly stunning, and so so affordable too! If you haven’t tried any Revolution products and you are on a budget but still want beautiful colour pay off then these are just what you’re looking for! Stunning, honestly! 🙂
A drugstore product that is overpriced?
I don’t think I am alone when I say that mascara on the whole is relatively overpriced for what you actually get from the product. You pay a fraction of the price for eyeshadows, blush, eyeliners and highlighters and they last at least three times, if not more, longer than any mascara I have ever owned. Mascaras dry out extremely quickly and you soon become unable to get the most from the product after a mere couple of weeks… I think when you’re paying £7 or above the product should at least last for a hell of a lot longer, well, in my opinion anyway. So yeah. Mascaras. Overpriced. *sigh* 😦
Your best drugstore dupes!
The best drugstore dupe I have found thus far is for the Nars Copacabana highlighting fluid which is the Seventeen Skin WOW three way highlighting fluid! It is SUCH a good dupe! I went with my friend to test the Nars highlighter and was a bit swayed by the price, so we headed to Boots and found this little gem! This is honestly such a close dupe its crazy! This can be used as a primer, in your foundation for extra glow or as a liquid highlighter. The price is around £6 I think and for how much product you get and how good it is, it truly is a bargain! Beaut, beaut, beaaauuut!
Drugstore product that isn’t worth the hype?
I would say, for me, the drugstore product that is not worth the hype is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. The foundation is amazing so I thought I would love the concealer just as much but I find it blends into nothing and the colour match is pretty off for my skintone. This is a very light coverage concealer in my opinion and I tend to go for more heavy duty concealers as I generally prefer them but this one just doesn’t do it for me, sadly. The one time Rimmel has let me down!
So there you have it, my top drugstore products, the ones I’m not so keen on and the ones I would happily buy forever more! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and please let me know your answers in the comments!
